“Embroidering the body” is an animated documentary in stop motion using embroidery as the raw material for the animation. It’s the story of Angélica narrating to her daughter, “her little birdie”, about how she was born. The short film portrays the process of putting into words and illustrating how the most important experience of her life became a trauma, due to the obstetric violence she suffered. She filed a lawsuit. The agreement that they reached with the lawyers was compensation but in exchange, the darkness of silence. While her daughter grows up, her need for this story to come to light grows. It is a short film for her daughter, a story about healing with embroidery in motion, so she can sew the truth together.
